Jeju Retreat Image 4Theme: LEARNING TO PAUSE AND LOOK WITHIN

What is a successful life? How do we define happiness? Have we made it all about doing more, getting more, and charging ahead without stopping? Fireside 2012 Fall Retreat on Jeju Island will focus on that which today’s leaders need the most – taking a pause from the hectic daily life and getting back in touch with our inner selves. This retreat will be about leaving the city life behind, winding down in nature, and taking the time to  ask ourselves questions about the state of our health, emotional condition, and reflect on how we live our lives.

Program

Jeju Island is an island off the southern coast of Korea formed by volcanic eruptions dating back to 1.2million ~ 94,000 years ago. It is approximately 1,850 square kilometers in area with Mt. Halla at the center of the island. Jeju is well-known for its rugged nature, rich plant life, and provides many different types of outdoor activities on its mountains and beaches. The retreat on Jeju Island will be largely in two parts ; physcial and spiritual. We will take full advantage of Jeju’s nature and set aside time for the members to bond together in physical activity. We will do two walking courses – one following the Olle road along the coast and another through the woods. A special session of meditation will be introduced for the first time led by a trained meditation teacher. Members will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire about their current health and emotional status, and will have one-to-one interviews with the meditation teacher who will prescribe an individualized meditation method. Members will stay at a premier resort and experience Jeju’s famous seafood and pork dishes.
