Theme: Backstreet Hong Kong
While we got a basic introduction to Hong Kong during the 2012 event, the 2013 will step beyond this level in several ways: It will be a major goal to connect Fireside members to local artists and entrepreneurs as well as the lesser known parts of Hong Kong that make this city so unique.
Program:
Hong Kong is a city of transition where millions of people come for a day only, and most never stay for even a week at at time. We are offering the unique opportunity to see the daily life on Hong Kong culture, where artists work in former factory buildings to produce art alongside commissioned work and thus build the backbone of the sustainable cultural life in Hong Kong. Further, we will see the ways how monasteries and temples integrate into the daily life in Hong Kong and how the diversity of Cantonese food is being translated into vegetarian dishes for the Monks. Further we explore how the seaside is impacting the daily life in Hong Kong away from the glittering Cruise liners or ferries. Further we will explore the most famous delicacies of the city which are not only hardly known outside of the region but about to die out as well.
